About Betty C. Ketchum
Born and raised in Trenton, N.J., Betty was the only child of George Corliss and Mabel Brown Crossley. She was educated at the George School of Newtown, Pa., and was a 1943 graduate of Wellesley College with a degree in art history. She was married for 57 years to Dr. William Francis Ketchum, and they raised three children together. After her husband passed away on April 6, 2003, Betty moved to the Mount Washington Valley to be closer to her daughter Wendy. She already had advanced dementia at the time and became a resident at Merriman House for several years until her death on her 90th birthday. Her strong, independent spirit is greatly missed by all who knew her.
The Betty C. Ketchum Foundation was created in 2018 in her memory with the purpose of supporting those with memory loss as well as their caregivers.
